Surrealism portrait with animation

Take a look at the website http://www.surrealism.org/

  1. Look at the art from this website. Name two artists whose work interests you. If you click on their biographies- what can you gather they are trying to say with their art? List two to three points.
  2. Look at the portrait by Joan Miro. http://www.popsubculture.com/pop/bio_project/sub/joan_miro.html  Why do you think he has done it this way?
  3. Look at the website: http://www.sanbase.com/art/ Do you like his digital art? Why or why not-list at least 2 reasons.
  4. Now using the assignment on tracing and painting your portrait in the my class website -paint a realistic version of your own portrait.
  5. After you paint it add parts to the portrait that will make it surrealistic: in other words something real in an unreal environment.

  7. 1. The two artists that interest me the most with their work are Rene Magritte, and Salvador Dali.
Salvador Dali uses melting clocks in his painting “The Persistence of Memory” supports the theory that time is relevant and not deterministic. He also uses insects, especially ants to symbolize death.
Rene Magritte used the method of painting objects and denies it is the object he painted. He uses this method to make the viewer realize that painting an image of an object does not make it the object itself, but only a painting. He also paints ordinary objects in unfamiliar spaces to create poetic imagery.

    2. Joan Miro painted this self-portrait surrounded by weird object to emphasize that he is a surrealist artist. Being a surrealist artist, instead of painting a plain self-portrait like many artists do, Miro added his personal taste to it.

    3. Yes, I like his work, because he presents surrealism in a 3D way that is original and unique. It also makes his art very realistic.

  8. 1>Salvador Dali:known for his contributions not only to surrealism, but also to fashion, theatre, and photography.
Tanguy’s work has a unique, nonrepresentational style of surrealism. He was known for his vast landscapes, limited color palette, and abstract shapes.

2>Joan Miro like to hid his most body , only his head or face still show and he live in the middle of art world, also he became one of these art.

3> I like his work. He raised the surrealist up to higher level of technology and make the work more complex.

Rene Magritte used the method of painting objects and denied it was painted to make the viewer realize that painting an image does not make the object itself, but only a painting. He also paints ordinary objects in unrealistic surroundings to create surrealism.
Salvador Dali's themes in his surrealistic art were based on happenings in society at that specific time. He would place realistic objects in an inrealistic surrounding to create a strong message for viewers.

    2. Joan Miro painted this self-portrait surrounded by strange objects to emphasize that he is a surrealist artist. Miro added his personal taste to it as he is a surrealist artist.
